  • If you are a beginner or are easing back into your practice, we have several classes to help you get started.

When you are looking at our schedule, these are the classes to help you get started (please see class descriptions for more information on the individual classes):

    • yin

    • restorative

    • gentle/ deep stretch

    • slow flow & restore

Please note that you are welcome to try any class. Read the descriptions so you are aware of the style and can choose a class that will suit your journey. All of the flow classes are taught as all level classes.

We encourage students new to yoga to try at least 3 classes. At first, you are learning a whole new way to move your body. With time, it becomes second nature you begin to experience the mind-body-breath connective aspect of the practice.

We welcome questions and are happy to guide you. Reach out via text or email.

  • We use a system called MINDBODY. You can register for class and purchase passes through this online system from our website using your PC or Mac. We recommend downloading the MINDBODY app on your smartphone. You will then choose Ohana Rising as a favorite studio and are able to easily manage your schedule from there.

  • You do not need too many things for yoga, but with a little preparation, your experience will have more ease, lending to the practice.

    • While it is typically recommended to practice on an empty stomach (at least 2 hours), make sure that you have had nourishment in your day. Do not starve yourself! It is always generally good to be hydrated.

    • Give yourself some time. Arrive a few minutes before class so you have time to settle and gather props.

    • Wear comfortable clothing. Wear clothing that you are comfortable in and can feel free to move and stretch.

    • Resource the props. Even if you are unsure of how to use a prop, feel free to gather a few props and allow yourself to learn as you go. Props can be a tremendous support for alignment and growth!

  • While we offer prenatal classes throughout the year, we have several regularly scheduled classes that are supportive for expectant mothers.

Each pregnancy is unique and individual. It is important that you consult with your medical practitioner with any movement/ exercise programs.

The general rule is that if you have a regular yoga practice, then you are able to continue to practice most of what you are doing with very important modifications. Having a conversation with your teacher is critical. Also note that while this general rule may work for some mama’s to be, others will be looking for a more restorative practice during these precious months.

If you are new to yoga, or looking for more restorative practice, the gentle classes are a healthy choice and can be tremendously nourishing. These classes include:

    • yin

    • restorative

    • gentle

    • sound bath

Please reach out with any questions.
